Segment 1 (Chapters 1 – 3) The Outpost

 

At times, authors struggle with a specific chapter, which is usually a very important chapter, or else they can simply remove it. Instead, they gnash their teeth, swear, and throw it into the digital recycle bin, only to restore and rewrite it again and again. For me, it was, unfortunately... CHAPTER 1!!

 

I hated that chapter for so many years (decades, actually), but eventually, after many rewrites, breaking it up and moving it around, and creating the Olivia Maddox character who told the story to the reader instead of reading a whole bunch of narration, it was finally a decent chapter and one that I now enjoy.

 

FYI... I rewrote it once more just 3 days from clicking the publish button (to the chagrin of my content editor, my sister Karen). I hope you enjoy it now!!

Furthermore, did you notice that I highlighted Dr. Elisabeth Mossier and her use of a triggering device during the demonstration... I wonder why?
